JENNIFER LITTLE BIOGRAPHY

 

 

Jennifer Little lives in Oakland, California. She received a B.F.A. in Photography from Washington University in St. Louis and an M.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a tenured Associate Professor at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where she teaches courses covering Digital Photography, Video Production, Documentary Photography, the History of Photography, and Media Studies.

 

Jennifer's current project, 100 Years of Dust: Owens Lake and the Los Angeles Aqueduct, is an in depth documentation of the environmental and political conflicts over water rights and air quality in California's Owens Valley. The project includes still photography, documentary videos, and aerial images produced with a drone.

Jennifer's 100 Years of Dust project won a prestigious Curator’s Choice Award from CENTER, a Critical Mass Top 50 Award from PhotoLucida, and a Philadelphia Museum of Art Collection Award from The Print Center. This series also won the Dotphotozine Award for Excellence in Photography and is featured in the September, 2014, issue of the magazine. 

 

Jennifer has presented artist talks at Review Santa Fe, The Society for Photographic Education (SPE) National Conference, University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Stanford University, University of LaVerne, Pitzer College, San Francisco Art Institute, and Kala Art Institute, among others.

 

Her recent exhibitions include the Marion Center for the Photographic Arts; GuatePhoto International Photography Festival; Stanford University’s Thomas Welton Stanford Art Gallery; SF Camerawork; Tag Gallery in Bergamot Station Arts Center, Santa Monica, CA; Sol Mednick Gallery at University of the Arts, Philadelphia; Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA; and Photo Center Northwest, Seattle, WA.
