Aqueduct City Main Street, Mojave, CA, 2016
100 Years of Dust: Aqueduct City documents the communities along the Los Angeles Aqueduct that have been impacted by the loss of water rights to the distant City of Los Angeles. These communities in the Eastern Sierra suffered the collapse of their agricultural economies as Owens Valley dried out in the decades after the LA Aqueduct opened. The toxic dust storms from Owens Dry Lake led to high rates of asthma and other respiratory disease in many of these communities.
